Ruffy
Ruffy is located in the Strathbogie Ranges, less than two hours from Melbourne by either the Hume Highway or the Melba Highway. Ruffy offers a range of activities to suit all tastes. You can go for scenic drives or walks in the beautiful bush surroundings which include a number of flora reserves abounding with wildlife, admire the rugged granite rock outcrops, or relax beside one of the many creeks meandering through the district - all perfect for the artist or photographer.
The historic Ruffy Mechanics Hall hosts many events throughout the year including monthly Happy Hours, the ‘Season of Saturday’ concerts and other shows provided by RuffArtz and the Ruffy Art Show in November.
The picturesque Ruffy Recreation Reserve is worth a visit to watch the popular gymkhanas or just to have a picnic under the spreading oak trees that surround the grassy oval.
For a range of dining experiences, choose from a simple Devonshire tea at The Odd Jug to widely acclaimed establishments such as the Ruffy Produce Store, the Tea House at Yarck or the historic White Hart Hotel at Longwood.
More than a dozen cellar doors are open to the public with the region's wineries ranging from smaller boutique operations to the large, internationally recognised wineries of Plunkett Fowles at Avenel, Mitchelton’s or Tahbilk Wines at Nagambie. These wineries have renowned restaurants showcasing regional produce matched with local wines.
